In the mid-size SUV segment, which is currently ruled by Hyundai Creta, is getting hotter with the entry of new models. While the Skoda Kushaq is the latest entrant, the MG Astor and Volkswagen Taigun are ready to join the bandwagon. The British carmaker has confirmed that the Astor will be officially unveiled on 15th September 2021. Its launch is likely to happen in the first few weeks of October. The VW Taigun will see a release on 23rd September. Here’s a brief on the two upcoming Hyundai Creta rivals.
The company has already revealed that the Astor SUV will be the first vehicle in the company’s global product portfolio to feature an in-car assistant with AI (artificial intelligence). The system will be powered by i-Smart Hub. It will also be the first car in its segment to offer Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems). Some of its key features will include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, 3 steering modes, 6-way electrically adjustable driver seat, manually adjustable co-passenger seat and more. The SUV will be made available with the 120bhp, 1.5L naturally aspirated and 163bhp, 1.3L turbo petrol engine options.

VOLKSWAGEN TAIGUN
Volkswagen will announce prices of its upcoming Taigun mid-size SUV on 23rd September 2021. Based on the MQB IN AO platform, the model will be offered with a 1.0L turbo and a 1.5L turbo petrol engine making 115bhp and 150bhp respectively. While a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox will be reserved for the 1.0L petrol variants, the 1.5L petrol models will get an optional 7-speed DCT automatic transmission. A 6-speed manual gearbox will be standard across the model lineup. The same engine-gearbox combinations are available on the Skoda Kushaq. Despite sharing platform and several design elements, the Taigun looks different from its sibling.
